After a long pause in our country’s speleological discoveries, at the end of 2015 about 150m, then 300m new section was discovered in the Pál-völgyi cave, at the „Jubileumi”-section (but at two different points). According to the discoverers’ description, the new parts are mainly low but wide, with much calcite formations.
Their leader, Attila Tóth hopes that this latest 500m discovery is only the beginning of something greater, because they didnt have time for carefully check the new section, and draft is sensibly going through there. We also hope that they are right.
Even personally I (György Slíz) have great memories in the Pál-völgyi cave. One member of the Bekey-team, (they are still researching the cave even nowodays) who was a colleague of my parents, brought us down to a section of the Pál-völgyi cave -which could not be visited by tourists- for a hike. They illuminated a stalagmite-flag through with a headlamp, -wich i really liked- and after that i am even more interested in speleology. Since that time I took part in Bekey team’s researchments, for example I was present when they successfully connected the Pál-völgyi cave with the Mátyás-hegyi at november, 2001.
